Collaborative learning is instrumental and very important. Many Students learning styles are different and when you get a group of diverse learners together in a setting where they have to collaborate, the end result is far greater than individual work. For many individual learning is a challenge, many individual learners can master the content area but it does not empower them with the culture you get when you collaborate on a project. Teachers and students are reluctant and hesitant at first, but quite often the "Habits of MInd" that develops because of it. Is sure to surprise many.
